South Africa U19 put up a spirited fight against India U19 B, going down by one run after an incredible final over that saw three SA U19 players run out off the last five balls… without adding a single run to the score.
India scored a sluggish 198 off 49.1 overs, with Pragnesh Kanpillewar (42 off 48 balls) and Sameer Rizvi (40 off 69 balls) top-scoring in the face of some excellent bowling by the young Proteas.
Siya Plaatjie (3-40, econ 4.36), Bryce Parsons (2-36, econ 3.60) and Jarred Jardine (2-41, econ 4.10) did the most damage with the ball, while paceman Achille Cloete (1-26, econ 2.60) also kept a tight end. Jonathan Bird was excellent with his slow left-arm chinaman bowling (1-27, econ 3.37), including picking up the wicket of top-scorer Kanpillewar.

The SA U19 once again lost early wickets, and were 5-79 in the 24th over before a 99-run stand for the sixth wicket between Player of the Match Andile Mokgakane (64 off 63 balls, 5×4, 2×6) and Ruan Terblanche, the latter playing a resolute innings of 73 off 142 balls to keep his side in the contest.
In a crazy final over, the SA U19 side lost three wickets off the last five balls without adding a run to their score, to lose by just one run.
Karan Lal’s 2-29 was the best return for a jubilant India U19 B side.
