The Proteas will be looking to set Bangladesh a target in the region of 400 on day four in Potchefstroom.
South Africa will resume their second innings on 54-2. With Hashim Amla (17) and Temba Bavuma (3) at the crease, they are in a great position to add 200-odd runs to their already impressive lead of 230.
ANALYSIS: Proteas have time to push for the win
It will be interesting to see how they go about their innings early on day four. The Proteas failed to show much urgency before declaring on day two.
On this occasion, they may take 30 or so minutes to settle before upping the tempo. The likes of Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock could play a key role in this respect when they come to the wicket.
Bad light and possibly rain could disrupt play later in the day. This may indeed factor into the Proteas’ decision to declare sooner rather than later.
