Axar Patel completed an outstanding all-round match by bowling India A to victory by an innings and 81 runs over South Africa A on the final day of the unofficial four-day Test Series at the Krishnagiri Stadium in Wayanad.
India thus win the series 1-0 after the first match was drawn.
India declared overnight with a first innings lead of 157 runs and then bowled South Africa out in the morning session for 76 with Patel returning the outstanding figures of 6-6-0-4. This followed his five-wicket haul in the first innings and his third highest score in the Indian innings of 69 not out. His match bowling figures was 9-92.
Stiaan van Zyl (10) and Quinton de Kock (20) were the only players to reach double figures in the South African second innings.
The series will still be seen as a successful one for Vincent Barnes and his team. De Kock scored a century in the first unofficial Test and Dane Piedt can say he is well and truly back after taking his second five-for in successive matches.
The Cobras offspinner completed his haul when play in the second unofficial Test resumed on Thursday. It was a much more industrious affair this time around, following his 5-85 in the first unofficial Test. He ended the rain-shortened day on 5-191 off 45 overs.
Both De Kock and Piedt are expected to return to India in October with the Proteas.
