In quitting the Titans and using his newly acquired Dutch passport, former Proteas all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe will attempt to resurrect his international career with the Netherlands.
Van der Merwe on Monday obtained a Netherlands passport through his Dutch ancestry.
His immediate goal will be to represent the Netherlands and push for a place in their Twenty20 World Cup squad, should they qualify. The tournament will be played in March 2016.
The passionate spinning all-rounder last played ODI and T20 cricket for South Africa back in 2010 and played 13 games in both formats for the Proteas.
Van der Merwe will also attempt to play county cricket in England as a European Union citizen.
