Reader Abhishek Sharma is a young Indian cricketer living in South Africa on an overseas exchange programme… and he has dreams of great things, including playing cricket for South Africa.
I’m Abhishek Sharma and I am from proud India country.
Well, right now I’m living in Durban, South Africa, enjoying an ‘overseas exchange programme’.
When I was growing up as a youngster I was always eager to make my career in cricket. Well, I started playing serious cricket very late at the age of 19, but within one year I was expressing myself with success on the cricket field, and I was appointed the captain in RDCA ‘B’ Division tournament in Ranchi, the home town of legend MS Dhoni.

I was also performing well in the Gary Kirsten Talent Hunt in New Delhi, to be honest.
I believe that if you love what you do and do what you love, then you will always be giving your best, and I think this applies especially on the cricket field.
I think you know guys, cricket is like a religion in India and cricketers are treated like God. I think cricket is in my blood and obviously Indian cricket is also in my blood.
I believe that sport has no boundaries, not when it comes to race, colour, religion or any stuff like that.
I have a dream to win the World Cup for my future adopted country and I have a self-belief that I have a talent, vision, ability and the technique needed to perform and achieve extraordinary things at the top level of the game.
Namaste!
