The Royal Challengers Bangalore produced a magnificent bowling display to dismantle the Kolkata Knight Riders batsmen and claim a comfortable eight-wicket victory on Wednesday.
RCB couldn’t have wished for a better a start after being sent in to bowl as Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini ripped through KKR’s top order to leave them rattled at 14-4 inside the first four overs.
Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan combined for an 18-run partnership before the former departed to leave the Knight Riders on 32-4.
It was slow going for the batting side as Virat Kohli rotated his bowlers cleverly to keep the run-scoring at a minimum.
Morgan hit a couple of maximums as he tried to up the tempo, but when he departed for 30, all KKR hopes of getting close to a defendable score also vanished.
At 57-7, it was up to the bowlers to try to get some runs on the board. Kuldeep Yadav and Lockie Ferguson’s 27-run partnership was the highest of the innings as KKR finished their 20 overs on 84-8.
RCB’s chase was very casual and they lost only the wickets of Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch, cruising to an eight-wicket win with 39 balls to spare.
The win moves RCB to 14 points and tied at the top of the IPL table.
