South Africa A had their final warm-up match against Derbyshire disrupted by rain on Monday.
For the second time in three days a warm-up match was abandoned after their clash against Yorkshire on Saturday was also washed out after just 35 overs.
The day was not completely lost, however, as the side’s top-order spent some valuable time out in the middle before the heavens opened.
Reeza Hendricks made the most of his time at the crease by scoring 68 off 65 balls (nine fours, one six). Proteas batsman Theunis de Bruyn was equally productive as he scored a brisk 41-ball 65 (four fours, four sixes) as the hosts moved their score to 145-1 when the rain came.
Aiden Markram (11) was the only wicket to fall in the rain-affected match that had been reduced to 41 overs per side before a ball had even been bowled.
The visitors will be hoping for better weather when they meet the England Lions in the first of three ODIs on Thursday.
