KL Rahul scored a brilliant 132 as Kings XI Punjab beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 97 runs.
The KXIP opener got his runs off 69 deliveries and included 14 fours and seven sixes. That helped set a challenging target of 207 on a wicket that got slower as the game progressed. Dale Steyn struggled with the ball, conceding 57 runs in his four overs.
RCB’s batting innings got off to the worst possible start, losing three wickets for seven runs, including that of Virat Kohli, who completed a miserable match that featured two dropped catches.
Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers set about stabilising matters with a 46-run fourth-wicket stand. But the Australian fell in the eighth over and De Villiers (28) followed him four deliveries later, and with them RCB’s resistance crumbled.
