Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock is set for his first stint in English county cricket, with Nottinghamshire eager to land his services.
De Kock has not yet played on the county circuit and would benefit from the experience ahead of next year’s World Cup in England and Wales.
If successful, Nottinghamshire will have the services of the left-hander – who averages 38.20 in Tests at a strike rate of 70.29 – to give them a push for the last few weeks of the season.
South Africa’s tour to Sri Lanka ends midway through August, which would be perfect timing for the English side, although they have other players in their sights as well. If they sign De Kock, he would be available for the last six County Championship matches of the season.
