South Africa thrashed Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in their final Commonwealth Games group game at Edgbaston on Thursday.
Both teams came into the match already out of semi-final contention and played only for pride.
South Africa’s decision to field first paid off big time as they bowled Sri Lanka out for 46 in 17.1 overs.
Only Sri Lanka captain and opener Chamari Athapaththu (15) reached double figures, with Nadine de Klerk taking 3-7 in four overs and Masabata Klaas 2-7 in three.
Proteas openers Anneke Bosch (20*) and Tazmin Brits (21*) needed just 6.1 overs to reach the target.
