Tazmin Brits scored a hard-fought half-century as the Proteas beat Pakistan by 10 runs in the opening women’s T20I in Multan on Monday.
Brits’ 56* off 63 deliveries and Suné Luus’ run-a-ball 27 enabled South Africa to post 132-4, with the two putting on 63 runs for the fourth wicket after the team had been reduced to 41-3.
Sadia Iqbal took 3-34 in her four overs.
Marizanne Kapp and Tumi Sekhukhune then each took two wickets as Pakistan slumped to 21-4 in the eighth over.
Aliya Riaz (52* off 39 balls) and captain Fatima Sana (37* off 24) showed some fight, but their efforts ultimately weren’t enough.
The second match of the series will take place at the same venue on Wednesday, with the final clash on Friday.
