The Proteas thrashed Ireland by nine wickets in the first women’s ODI in Dublin on Saturday.
Shabnim Ismail and Suné Luus picked up three wickets each and Ayabonga Khaka two as the hosts were skittled for 69 in 27.2 overs.
Only three of the Irish batters reached double figures with No 9 Georgina Dempsey (19*) the top-scorer.
While Laura Wolvaardt fell for eight, Andrie Steyn (21*) and Lara Goodall (32*) ensured the Proteas cruised to their target in just 16 overs.
The second ODI will take place in Dublin on Tuesday and the third on Friday.
The Proteas won the T20I series 2-1.
