A win at last and with that comes a more pleasant edition of the World Cup player ratings for the Proteas, writes WADE PRETORIUS.

JC on cricket: Amla owes us some runs
Quinton De Kock – 8
Many bashed the Proteas slow response to ticking off the required runs but Quinny did well for his nearly run a ball 68. A big morale booster with bigger fish to fry.
Hashim Amla – 6
41 off double the balls but crucially built up some confidence.
Andile Phehlukwayo – 8
He bats. He bowls. He continues to show that he’s the man for all seasons.
Aiden Markram – N/A
Faf du Plessis – 7
Good captaincy as he helped rotate the bowlers at the right times. Bonus point for promoting Phehlukwayo to three.
Rassie van der Dussen – N/A
David Miller – N/A
Chris Morris – 8
Exactly what the doctor ordered as Morris picked up three wickets on the cheap. One of the key players heading into the Proteas next few games, he thrives on confidence so this performance may spark bigger things.
Kagiso Rabada – 6
Not his best afternoon as he struggled to dominate the key batsmen.
Beuran Hendricks – 4
No wickets and went for five an over. You can see the signs of potential but the lack of control continues to thwart any meaningful progress.
Imran Tahir – 10
What on earth are we going to do without Imran in the future? A worldclass performer and a joy to watch as he dashes over past the inner circle on his now trademark celebrations. The only thing that matched his passion on Saturday was his control and use of his tricks.
