• Proteas’ IPL names to miss T20 series against Pakistan

    None of the contracted IPL players from South Africa will be part of the Proteas’ four-match T20I series against Pakistan in April.

    Cricket South Africa announced the ODI and T20I squads to take on the visitors in a bio-secure environment, starting on 2 April in Centurion.

    But, there were some notable absentees from the T20I group with the IPL and short-format series against Pakistan overlapping.

    In the statement CSA said the organisation is in agreement with the BCCI to release the contracted players for the start of the IPL on 9 April. The first T20I between the Proteas and Pakistan is scheduled for the following day on 10 April.

    Kagiso Rabada (Delhi Capitals), Quinton de Kock (Mumbai Indians), Anrich Nortje (Delhi Capitals), David Miller (Rajasthan Royals) and Lungi Ngidi (Chennai Super Kings) will all be involved with the ODI series before traveling to India.

    Faf du Plessis (Chennai Super Kings) and Chris Morris (Rajasthan Royals) were both not named in any of the two Proteas squads.

    The issue also left Dale Steyn questioning why the big-name players aren’t featuring in the T20I series against Pakistan.
