• Proteas’ payday helps ease World Cup pain

The Proteas have been well rewarded for reaching the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Andrew Breetzke, CEO of the South African Cricketers’ Association, told Rapport newspaper that Aiden Markram’s men earned $1.17-million (about R21-million), 80% of which went to the players and 20% to CSA.

The players also got an additional $112,500 (about R2-million) from commercial rights from the ICC.

India, who beat the Proteas in the final, received $2.34-million (about R42.5-million).
