Proteas captain Dean Elgar has hinted that spinner Simon Harmer could play in the second Test against England at Old Trafford.
Conditions in Manchester should suit spin, providing the Proteas with an opportunity to reunite their spin twins – Keshav Maharaj and Harmer.
“We’ve got our 12,” Elgar said on Wednesday. “It’s the same 12 we had in the first Test and we’ll decide on the 11 on the day. For now we have the 12, with the second spinner in as Harmey.
“We’ll have a good look at it [the pitch] now with the coaches. But we have the resources whether we play four seamers or two spinners. We haven’t finalised our 11 and you’ll have to wait for tomorrow [to see it].”
The second Test starts at 12pm (SA time) on Thursday.
