Pakistan captain Babar Azam has won the toss and elected to bowl first in the opening ODI against the Proteas at SuperSport Park on Friday.
Aiden Markram is back in the ODI team and will open the batting alongside Quinton de Kock as Janneman Malan misses out. Despite struggling with an injury niggle in the lead-up to the series, Andile Phehlukwayo is fit and ready for action. He will serve as the all-rounder in the team.
The Proteas have again opted for Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi as the pace attack, while Tabraiz Shamsi is the spinner in the team.
Danish Aziz will make his debut for Pakistan after an impressive domestic season back home. Imam ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman will open the batting for the visitors, while the dangerous Mohammad Rizwan will come in at four.
