Head coach Ashwell Prince has reiterated the importance of continuity, ahead of the Cape Town Blitz’s 2019 Mzansi Super League campaign.
The Blitz topped last year’s six-team standings on the back of six wins, three defeats and one washout, but lost the final to the Jozi Stars. They will face the Stars in Friday’s tournament opener at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

‘We will try to keep things the same. Momentum is important and last year we obviously started nicely. We got four wins in a row at the start and then we probably lost our way a little bit towards the middle part of the campaign,’ said Prince.
‘But, as I say, we had momentum early on and we probably would have liked to have had more rhythm towards the end of the campaign, but we weren’t able to quite hit our straps later on.’
The Blitz recently named wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock captain and have employed former Proteas cricketer as a batting consultant.
‘Obviously the Stars won the competition last year, so I suppose that’s the yardstick at the moment. It will be good to go up against them early in the competition and get a good idea of where we are, also where they are, and take it from there,’ concluded Prince.
