Spinner Senuran Muthusamy took 3-12 as the Pretoria Capitals crushed Durban’s Super Giants by eight wickets at Kingsmead on Friday.
Super Giants captain Quinton de Kock won the toss and chose to bat first at a humid Kingsmead, but things did not go according to plan for the home team.
Capitals skipper Wayne Parnell struck with the opening ball of the innings to dismiss West Indian Kayle Mayers for a duck. Wiaan Mulder (five) and De Kock (13) followed Mayers shortly afterwards.

The tournament’s leading run-scorer Heinrich Klaasen tried valiantly to keep his team afloat with 31 off 24 balls, but had no support, with Muthusamy, Anrich Nortje (2-15) and Eathan Bosch (2-10) following the lead of skipper Wayne Parnell (2-12).

The Super Giants folded for just 80 in 18.1 overs.
The visitors’ chase was dented by the early loss of the in-form Phil Salt first ball.

But his fellow Englishman Will Jacks struck a rapid 56 off just 25 balls (five fours, four sixes), and with Theunis de Bruyn (21* off 19) providing good support, the Capitals reached their target in just 7.4 overs.
