A Man of the Match performance from AB de Villiers included a stunning 72 not out… and a sensational catch in the deep.
De Villiers teamed up with Virat Kohli to drive RCB from 18-2 to 136, when Kohli departed for 70. AB went on to power RCB to victory with a six-laced innings that included his trademark ‘step to the off-side’ to smash a six over the square leg boundary. He finished unbeaten on 72 off 37 balls (S/R 194.59), hitting the winning runs with a six.
AB’s catch in the first innings was typically athletic of South Africa’s super-sportsman, running flat out and sliding along the boundary to hold on to a brilliant catch to cut the dangerous Rishabh Pant’s innings of 61 short. AB would have been extra determined to hold the catch, as Pant’s innings came off the back of his record-breaking 128 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
