Never mind the fact that Kohli scored his fourth IPL century in just nine games against Kings XI Punjab on Wednesday, but the sheer amount of runs he’s scored in this tournament has lifted him from the fourth-highest IPL run-getter in history to the highest.

He now has 865 runs in this tournament, and before it started, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir were ahead of him in the all-time stats. 111 is unlucky in cricketing terms, but it was this total on Wednesday night that got him to 4 000 IPL runs, becoming the first to do so.
