Chris Gayle led Somerset to victory in his last T20 Blast match for the county against Hampshire in Taunton.
Gayle left the Somerset fans with something to remember him by when he scored 52 off 39 balls to help the county to a six-wicket victory over Hampshire. This was another vintage Gayle innings with all the Hampshire bowlers going for runs off his bat. The Hampshire bowling line-up included his good friends Tino Best and Darren Sammy and even fellow master-blaster Shahid Afridi; but Gayle was unforgiving.
Hampshire underwhelmed during their innings – posting 133 runs all-out. Gayle hit a massive six over the deep-cover boundary off Best with the first ball of the sixth over. Then in the first ball of the eighth over Gayle cleared not only the mid-wicket boundary but also the stands for the biggest six of the game. Gayle wasn’t done with entertaining his home-crowd for the last time this season and in the ninth over hit Afridi over the long-off boundary for his third maximum of his innings.
After Gayle’s departure Somerset went on to win the game comfortably, with six balls to spare.
