Dwayne Smith’s brilliant spell which brought him four wickets at the cost of eight runs is our Play of the Day.
It was one of the best performances in IPL history. The Kolkata Knight Riders came into this match against Gujarat Lions knowing that a win would seal their place in the play-offs. Three balls into the 12th over, that hope had vanished. They were reeling at 5-61, and four of those wickets went to Smith who took a wicket in each of his overs; his finest performance in this format.
It was most economical bowling return since Anil Kumble took 5-5 and Rohit Sharma 4-6, in 2009.
The Riders were dismissed for 124 and the Gujarat Lions won by six wickets.
