Getting Chris Gayle is always a big moment. Morne Morkel’s strike makes it our Play of the Day.
Gayle always looks to make a statement. The second ball he faced from Morne Morkel as the Royal Challengers set off to create a winning target after the Knight Riders put them into bat, he stepped out and sent soaring it into the stands.
The following ball, Morkel went back to his trusted length, the shortish length, on off. Gayle looked to pull, but failed to connect with it. The ball hustled off the pitch and hit the splice of the bat, way up into the air. Keeper Robin Uthappa waved all other fielders off, and completed the easy take.
It was a big wicket, for although they posted 185-7, it was not enough. KKR won by five wickets.
