Axar Patel’s four wickets in five balls, which helped the Kings XI to their second win of the IPL, is the Play of the Day.
The Kings had been sent in to bat and were defending a precarious total of 154. Mohit Sharma stepped up to knock out the dangerous Brendon McCullum and Suresh Raina with just 34 on the board. But the Lions still had plenty of firepower: until Axar Patel produced five brilliant deliveries of left-arm spin.
Dwayne Smith went first for 15; one run came off the next ball, then Danesh Karthik (2) and Dwayne Bravo both played on. Patel had three wickets for three runs from that over. He was surprisingly rested for three overs, but with his first ball back, snapped up Ravindra Jadeja. The Gujarat Lions were down and out at 57-6. They went to lose by 23 runs; their second loss in eight matches.
