It was another mess that makes the Play of the Day. It could have been the turning point in the Gujarat Lions v Pune Supergiants match.

Ajinkya Rahane and Steve Smith were in full flow as the Pune Supergiants powered on to the second-highest total in the IPl this season, at 195.

But Rahane was poorly run out after he and Smith had put on 111 for the second wicket. It was so unnecessary, too, for Rahane was over-eager after Smith declined a run. Rahane has to turn and run back. Dwayne Bravo, meanwhile, sprinted in, took an extra second to aim, and knocked a stump out. It didn’t seem important at the time, but they could have done with the extras runs.
