Born in South Africa and a star batsman in England, Kevin Pietersen has explained his decision to back only one side at the World Cup 2019.
Pietersen enjoys a rich and storied history with both countries. Having left South Africa to seek opportunities on the English county scene, he quickly settled in and played his way into the Three Lions team.
KP, who in 2013 become England’s highest run-scorer in all formats, entrenched himself among the runs and ended his 104-match Test career in 2014 with 8,181 Test runs at 47.28.
He equipped himself well at ODI level with 25 50s to go with 9 centuries at an average of 40.73.
The Pietermaritzburg-born star credits his adopted nation as giving him the chance to help save the rhino in Africa, and for that he is backing England all the way.
Pietersen has also been enjoying some Twitter banter with Yuvraj Singh.
I’ve seen it mate, but we both know #ENG are going all the way and bringing the ? home! ?
So tell me if I’m saying this right: #CricketKaCrown hum #LeJayenge – correct, @StarSportsIndia? https://t.co/ubL6kZkg8l— Kevin Pietersen? (@KP24) May 27, 2019
