Proteas batsman Keegan Petersen will not leave with the team for New Zealand on Wednesday for their two-Test series in Christchurch.
Petersen tested positive for Covid-19 but is well and asymptomatic.
Western Province batsman Zubayr Hamza has replaced Petersen in the squad, with the Lions’ Ryan Rickelton in line to make his Test debut.
Petersen was the leading run-scorer in the recent Test series between the Proteas and India, scoring 276 at an average of 46.00.
Both Test matches against New Zealand will be at the Hagley Oval, starting on 17 and 25 February.
