Dane Paterson ripped through the Knights top order in Bloemfontein with a fast-paced 3-41 to earn himself today’s Turbo Bowler accolade.
Paterson was at his rip-roaring best from the start as he struck early at the Manguang Oval on day one of the 4-Day Franchise Series. The blistering fast bowler was released from the Proteas Test squad following Vernon Philander’s return in Newlands, and instead played for the Cape Cobras on their seventh-round encounter against the Knights.
The Cobras rocked the Knights early as the opening bowling partnership of Paterson and Lizaad Williams had the home side limping at 3-3 in the third over.

Paterson got his New Year off to a red-hot start by accounting for opener Raynard van Tonder with the second delivery of the innings, before swiftly dismissing the Knights’ captain, Pite van Biljon, with the penultimate ball of the third over.
That wasn’t the end of his onslaught, as he returned to the attack after lunch to get rid of the ever-dangerous Rudi Second to put the visiting Cobras well in command of the fixture.

He will be keen to add to his overnight figures of 3-41 in 15 overs (econ. 2.73) when play resumes on Saturday, with the Knights on 241-8.
