Wayne Parnell took 3-28 to help the Barbados Tridents restrict the St Lucia Stars to 129-6 and claim a 21-run victory (D/L method).
It was a dominant batting display which set the tone for Tridents, highlighted by a 35-ball 83 by their captain Keiron Pollard as they posted 196-4 in 20 overs.
Stars’ promising start, which saw them reach 36 runs in four overs, was quickly ended as they tumbled to 43-3 in just 5.2 overs.
This set the tone for Parnell, who removed Marlon Samuels and Shane Watson off back-to-back balls in the 7th over, but was denied a hat-trick as the hosts fizzled to 53-5.
The Proteas seamer was crucial in throttling the St Lucia side by taking out Jesse Ryder in the ninth over.
Despite a 29-ball 60 from Darren Sammy, rain disruptions throughout the match put the Stars behind the required run rate at the final stoppage of the game, their side on 129-6 (15.2).
This handed Trident their fourth consecutive victory, as they won by 21 runs (D/L method).
