India have included Hardik Pandya in their ODI squad for the upcoming series against South Africa, which gets underway on Thursday.
It will be the all-rounder’s first 50-over match for India since their semifinal loss to New Zealand during last year’s Cricket World Cup in England.
Pandya underwent surgery on his lower-back in the aftermath of their World Cup exit and recently had to prove his fitness in a local T20 competition in Mumbai.

Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shubhman Gill are also back in the Indian squad after missing the recent tour of New Zealand due to injury.
The Black Caps hammered the Indians 3-0 in the ODI series to complete a whitewash, while they also claimed the Test series 2-0.
South Africa will head into the series on the back of their own whitewash after beating Australia 3-0 in their ODI series of last week.
Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen are back in the Proteas camp after being rested for the matches against Australia, while George Linde received his maiden ODI call-up with Tabraiz Shamsi unavailable due to the birth of his first chilled over the past weekend.
This will be the Proteas’ last series of the summer.
