Shan Masood, Haris Sohail and Mohammad Abbas have all been dropped from the Pakistan squad for the Test series against South Africa.
There are several new faces for the two-Test series, including Haris Rauf, Imran Butt, Kamaran Ghulam and Salman Ali Agha.
This in response to a woeful showing in their Test series against New Zealand, which they lost 2-0 and never looked competitive in.
Strong performances in domestic cricket have forced Hasan Ali into the Test squad after a two-year absence. There’s a first-time call-up for off spinner Sajid Khan, while Yasie Shah, Nauman Ali and Mohammad Nawaz complete the spin attack in the squad. There’s also a call-up for 36-year-old seamer Tabish Khan.
Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah have been ruled out through injury. Babar Azam, injured during the New Zealand series, takes over the captaincy from Mohammad Rizwan.
