• Pakistan bat first in Southampton

Pakistan have won the toss and opted to bat first on the first day of the second Test match against England at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

The visitors will need to respond after losing their grip on the first match due to ill-disciplined bowling, which helped Chris Woakes power England to victory with the bat in Manchester.

Pakistan have made one change from their defeat in the first clash with Fawad Alam replacing Shadab Khan, while England have named San Crawley as the replacement for Ben Stokes, who withdrew from the squad for the remainder of the series due to family reasons.

Jofra Archer is also not part of the England team with Sam Curran returning to the lineup.

With warm weather sweeping through the UK in recent days, the almost-perfect conditions on the coast could make for a decent batting opportunity for Pakistan.

England: 1 Rory Burns, 2 Dom Sibley, 3 Zak Crawley, 4 Joe Root (c), 5 Ollie Pope, 6 Jos Butler (wk), 7 Chris Woakes, 8 Dom Bess, 9 Sam Curran, 10 Stuart Broad, 11 James Anderson.

Pakistan: 1 Shan Masood, 2 Abid Ali, 3 Azhar Ali (c), 4 Babar Azam, 5 Asad Shafiq, 6 Fawad Alam, 7 Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 8 Yasir Shah, 9 Shaheen Shah Afridi, 10 Mohammad Abbas, 11 Naseem Shah
