Batsman Reeza Hendricks played for the Jozi Stars in the inaugural Mzansi Super League last year – and is a key member of the Lions squad for the ongoing CSA T20 Challenge.
The Lions will clash with the Dolphins at Kingsmead in Durban on Wednesday, when Hendricks will be afforded the chance to build on the form displayed in the MSL.
The hard-hitting right-hander was superb during the inaugural tournament. He was the third-highest run-scorer, after Stars teammate Rassie van der Dussen and Cape Town Blitz star Quinton de Kock, and struck two centuries.
‘Generally, this competition is always exciting and fun. I think that the tournament will be no different. Personally, I’m really looking forward to it, I’m excited and I bet that the team is too,’ said Hendricks, who is also vying for a berth in South Africa’s squad for the World Cup in the United Kingdom later this year.
‘I see it as another opportunity for the Lions franchise to try to do well and get another trophy after one already in the bag. Hopefully as a team we can do well and try to claim that trophy.’
The Lions won the 2018-19 4-Day Franchise Series, but occupied last position at the end of this year’s six-team One-Day Cup.
