Heinrich Klaasen hit 153 off 127 balls as the Northerns Titans beat the Free State Knights by 32 runs in Centurion on Sunday.
A 177-run third-wicket partnership between Klaasen, who recently lost his Proteas contract, and Neil Brand (87 off 104) enable the hosts to post a massive 341-6.
Captain Pite van Biljon led the Knights’ response with an unbeaten 127 off 110. It wouldn’t be enough, though, as they were bowled out for 309 in 44.1 overs.
Corbin Bosch (4-69) and Brand (4-61) were the best of the Titans’ bowlers.
At the Wanderers, the Central Gauteng Lions beat the KZN Dolphins by three wickets.
Proteas all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo scored an unbeaten 100 from 117 balls and Eathan Bosch 68 off 73 as the Dolphins posted 224-8, having been 57-5 in the 22nd over.
Codi Yusuf finished with outstanding bowling figures of 10-1-26-4.
The Lions reached their target with three overs to spare, thanks to the batting efforts of Joshua Richards (44), captain Dominic Hendricks (43) Connor Esterhuizen (52) and Sisanda Magala (28*).
In Division 2, the Mpumalanga Rhinos beat the Limpopo Impalas by 31 runs in Polokwane, South Western Districts beat the Northern Cape Heat by six wickets in Oudtshoorn, and the KZN Inland Tuskers beat the Eastern Cape Iinyathi by 21 runs in Pietermaritzburg.
