Heinrich Klaasen scored 121 off 85 balls as the Northerns Titans claimed a one-wicket win against the EP Warriors at St George’s Park on Thursday.
The Warriors posted 306-7 in their 50 overs, with Wihan Lubbe striking his second consecutive century (135 off 127 balls, 12 fours and five sixes).
The Titans were 64-2 in the 19th over when Klaasen came to the crease. He and opener Gihahn Cloete then added 162 for the third wicket in just 21 overs.
Cloete was dismissed for 93 in the 40th over with the Titans needing 78 off the last 10 overs.
Klaasen lost his wicket off the third ball of the 49th over with his team’s total on 300.
The Titans needed three runs to win off the final over with two wickets in hand. Glenton Stuurman bowled Aaron Phangiso before Lizaad Williams edged the ball through the vacant slip area for four.
In a Division 2 clash, the Northern Cape Heat beat the Mpumalanga Rhinos by 44 runs in White River.
Opener Ernest Kemm scored 109 off 101 balls as the Heat posted a massive 345-9.
The Rhinos were all out for 301 in 50 overs. Benjamin van Niekerk top-scored with 75 off 90 balls.
