A 99-run seventh-wicket partnership between Farhaan Behardien and Gerald Coetzee set up a thrilling one-wicket win for the Free State Knights over the Central Gauteng Lions in Bloemfontein.
Needing 241 to win, the Knights were 129-6 in the 33rd over when Coetzee joined Behardien at the crease.
The latter went on to make 86 off 102 balls before being run out off the last ball of the 48th over. Coetzee, who scored 54 off 48, was caught off the last ball of the 49th over, leaving Free State with 10 to win off six balls.
Malusi Siboto conceded just two runs off the first four balls of the final over, while picking up the wicket of Nealan van Heerden.
But Alfred Mothoa then scored three runs off the penultimate ball, after Tshepo Ntuli let the ball slip through his legs, to level the scores, and Siboto then bowled a no-ball to gift the Knights the win.
Ntuli was the most successful Lions bowler, taking 3-34 in his 10 overs.
Earlier, Wiaan Mulder scored 108 off 121 balls as the Lions posted 240-6. The Proteas all-rounder hit five fours and five sixes.
Coetzee (3-40 in his 10 overs) was the pick of the Knights bowlers.
