Proteas paceman Anrich Nortje will take the place of England’s Chris Woakes in the Delhi Capitals team for this year’s IPL, which gets under way in the UAE next month.
Woakes, who was signed by the Delhi Capitals at the IPL auction in December last year, withdrew from the squad to focus on his position in the England national team.

Nortje, though, enjoyed a brilliant season with the Proteas, despite a tough year on the field for the South Africans.
He will now meet up with teammate Kagiso Rabada, who also plays for the Capitals in the IPL.
Due to the ongoing risk of Covid-19 in India, it was decided to move the event to the UAE – deemed a much safer destination for players.
‘I am excited to join the Delhi Capitals, a team that was the talk of the tournament last season. With its exciting mix of experienced and young players, and a stellar coaching lineup, there is no doubt this is going to be a massive learning experience for me,’ Nortje said via the Delhi Capitals.
‘I am grateful to the Delhi Capitals management for giving me this opportunity.’
And we can’t wait to watch you steam in and let it rip ?
