• Northerns president joins CSA board

Northerns Cricket Union president Tebogo Siko was elected onto Cricket South Africa’s board at Saturday’s annual general meeting.

Siko has succeeded Border Cricket Board president Thando Ganda as a non-independent director on the CSA board.

‘For someone that’s played cricket all their life it makes me proud to be the president of NCU and now to be appointed to the board of Cricket South Africa,’ said Siko.

‘NCU is one of the most successful unions in the country, having recently been awarded the Affiliate of the Year for a historic five consecutive years. And I think it’s important that the we now have a voice on the CSA board.

‘It goes to show that being principled gets you noticed, first the union as a whole with the incentive award and now with me representing them on the CSA board.

Titans chief executive officer Jacques Faul added: ‘This is great news for the union, as we haven’t had a member on the CSA board in some years. I’m very proud of Tebogo and he really deserves this.’

CSA, meanwhile, has declared a R200-million loss for the 2018-19 financial year. CSA declared revenue of R929 million and expenses of R1.2 billion across a four-year cycle, which included home series against Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India and Australia.

The tenure of CSA president Chris Nenzani, who also serves on two International Cricket Council committees, has been extended by one year.
