Border allrounder Jason Niemand was named the Coca-Cola Hero of the Day for day two of the 2017 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week.
Niemand was selected for the award by a Coca-Cola appointed panel of cricket experts, which included SACricketmag.com, after he bounced back from a tough opening day to hit 131 off 111 balls and take 2-26.
‘This award means a lot to the whole team. As one of the senior more experienced players, it is important to lead by example,’ said Niemand. ‘Today was a great match for us to show that we can bounce back especially after a challenging day one.’
‘Congratulations to Jason, he played to his potential today and it shows a lot of character to bounce back from a performance like yesterday,’ said Proteas legend and Coca-Cola Hero of the Day panel lead Victor Mpitsang. ‘To score a hundred in less than a run a ball and to take two wickets is exceptional! Heroes need to lead by example and Jason showed that he is a hero in his team.’
