Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the Proteas’ three-match T20I series against India.
The fast bowler has a left lateral ankle sprain and will return to the Northerns Titans where he will undergo his rehabilitation under the supervision of the Proteas medical team.
Ngidi was initially expected to play in the round of 4-Day Domestic Series matches from 14-17 December in preparation for the two-match Test series but will instead be further assessed by the Proteas medical team on his progress.
Western Province fast bowler Beuran Hendricks has been named as his replacement.
