Lungi Ngidi has sustained a back injury and will miss the remainder of South Africa A’s tour of England.
Dr Shuaib Manjra, chairperson of the CSA Medical Committee, has said that although the injury is nothing particularly uncommon, Ngidi will return home to undergo treatment and rehabilitation.
‘Lungi has developed a bone stress reaction in his back, which is not an uncommon injury in young fast bowlers,’ he explained.
‘He will return to South Africa and undergo further assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for this injury by the CSA Medical Team.
‘We will not be able to give a timeline on his likely return to the game until we have made a further assessment,’ concluded Dr. Manjra.
Ngidi has represented South Africa in three T20Is to date.
South Africa A’s next tour assignment is a four-day match against Hampshire beginning on Thursday.
