CSA has appointed Dr Hashendra Ramjee as chief medical officer.
In the role of CMO, Dr Ramjee will oversee CSA’s medical operations ranging from injury management to preventative care and conditioning across the national men’s and women’s pipeline. He will also oversee CSA’s designated medical staff in collaboration with the high-performance lead.
Dr Ramjee served as CMO for the first two editions of the SA20 and as team doctor for the Proteas from 2019 to 2023. His notable contributions include serving as team doctor during the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cups in Dubai and Australia respectively, and the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.
Prior to joining the national side, he was actively involved in the domestic cricket structures with the Northerns Titans. Additionally, he has gained extensive experience across various sporting disciplines, including serving as the team doctor for the Kaizer Chiefs since 2015.
Dr Ramjee received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Witswatersrand and holds a Master of Science in Sports Medicine from the University of Pretoria.
He replaces Dr Shuaib Manjra, who has served as CMO from August 2019 to March 2024.
