Wiaan Mulder has been drafted into the SA A four-day squad, while Jason Smith has been named in both A squads.
The news comes following an inadverdent oversight with the original inclusion of Dwaine Pretorius for the SA A side to tour England in May/June, which wouldn’t have worked seeing as he’s in the Proteas squad for the Champions Trophy.
As a result, it means a promotion for a couple of South Africa’s most promising young all-rounders. Cobras batting all-rounder Smith was originally in the four-day squad only, but comes in to the 50-over side too as a result of Pretorius making way.
The 19-year-old Mulder, who played his first season of franchise cricket for the Lions, and showed form beyond his years with a century and a five-wicket haul in his first three matches, will continue his development on the next-biggest stage.
