Albie Morkel has joined the Northerns Titans coaching setup.

Morkel was an assistant coach for the Joburg Super Kings in the recent SA20.

As part of his new role, the former Titans and Proteas all-rounder will contribute his extensive knowledge and skills and oversee a team of consultants, including AB de Villiers, Gary Kirsten, Vernon Philander and Rivash Gobind.

“We are delighted to welcome Albie Morkel to the our coaching team,” said Titans CEO Jacques Faul. “His track record as a player and his dedication to the sport make him an invaluable addition to our team.

“With the support of Albie and our esteemed consultants, we are confident that our coaching programme will continue to thrive and produce exceptional talent.”

Titans head coach Mandla Mashimbyi said: “It is great to have Albie back in the change room; he is a Titan through and through and will add a lot of value.”

During Morkel’s three-season tenure as Titans captain, they won two trophies each season.
