England skipper Eoin Morgan will miss the warm-up fixture against Australia due to a fractured finger that he picked up during training on Friday.
The injury took place during fielding practice at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, where England will face Australia in a warm-up match on Saturday.
Morgan took a blow during catching drills using a bowling machine.
X-Rays revealed that the England captain suffered a fractured index finger, which has ruled him out of the warm-up clash against Australia.
The England medical team are confident that the 32-year-old will make a full recovery before the opener against South Africa at The Oval.
‘He will not take part in the match, but is expected to make a full recovery and be available for England’s opening ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup match against South Africa at The Oval on Thursday, 30 May,’ a statement from the ECB clarified.
It is not as yet clear if he will feature in England’s second warm-up match, against Afghanistan on 27 May.
