The Cape Cobras, with the benefit of home ground advantage, lost the toss and were sent in to bat in the Momentum One-Day Cup final at Newlands on Sunday.
The Lions, with their strong batting line-up fancy their chances chasing the total. They sprung a surprise by including Temba Bavuma, who was listed as injured through the week. That brings to three, the number of Test centurions in the Lions side. Also included was another previously doubtful, Eddie Leie, who will combine with Aaron Phangiso as a twin spin attack.
The Cobras, having secured top spot with seven wins out of 10, have had plenty of time to relax, regroup and plan their strategy without any sense of great urgency. The Lions, on the other hand had to organise and execute an eliminator against the Warriors last week before they could turn their attention to the Cobras. But they did it effectively and they may feel that they have the momentum to carry them through.
They have brought in Richard Levi to bolster the batting at the top of the order, dropping Wayne Parnell into the middle order, which will give them some impetus .
