David Miller scored a 34-ball 72 in a four-wicket defeat for the Jamaica Tallawahs against the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League.
The Proteas big-hitter jumped out of the slump for his country to slam five fours and five sixes to help revive his side’s slow start in their first eight overs.
Having lost three for 47, Miller and Glenn Phillips added 112 runs before the latter was removed after a 55-ball 80 (3×4; 5×6; 145.45).
Miller was on 54 at the time and added 18 runs that included two fours and a six to see his side to 182-5 in their 20 overs.
The Knights’ start was worse than the Knight Riders’ as they found themselves three down with 28 on the board by the sixth over. Colin Munro and Darren Bravo’s half-centuries resurrected their side’s chase to help them to 135-4 as they crept into the 16th over.
Darren Bravo was the batsman to fall at that point, after his 35-ball 50 (5×6; 142.85) that helped add 107 runs with Munro. The New Zealander scored 67 off 51 balls (4×4; 4×6; 131.37) and helped his side to 169-5 midway into the 19th over. Dwayne Bravo’s cameo 11-ball 36 lifted the Knight Riders to 177 in the 20th over before Oshane Thomas dismissed the West Indies superstar on the third ball.
Needing six off three to win, Thomas bowled a wide to Javon Scantlebury-Searles, conceded two and a four off the final ball to see the Knight Riders claim a four-wicket win.
The win sees the Knight Riders tied third with the Tallawahs on six points after five games played.
