Proteas batsman David Miller is looking forward to playing alongside England’s Alex Hales during the 2019 Mzansi Super League.
Miller is one of five players is one of five Durban Heat players retained for the second edition of the tournament. The others are batsmen Khaya Zondo and Sarel Erwee, spinner Keshav Maharaj and seamer Kyle Abbott.
Hales, meanwhile, has replaced Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan as the Heat’s international marquee player. All-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo, rather than batsman Hashim Amla, will be their local marquee player this year.
‘I don’t know Alex, but I am looking forward to getting to know him,’ said Miller.
‘As you do in these competitions all around the globe you get to know people from all over the world on a personal level.
‘I rate him highly as a player and, so I am looking forward to seeing how he works, how he thinks about the game and how he prepares for each game.’
The hard-hitting Hales was named in England’s squad for the World Cup earlier this year, but was later removed on disciplinary grounds.
He has played for the Melbourne Renegades in Australia’s Big Bash League – and the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. He is currently with Nottinghamshire for the ongoing T20 Blast in the United Kingdom.
