Hashim Amla hit his maiden T20 ton off 58 balls for the Kings XI Punjab on Thursday night.
Unfortunately it wasn’t in a winning cause, as Jos Buttler scored 77 off 37 to see Kings XI’s reach a total of 198-4 with 27 balls to spare, but the long wait for a maiden T20 century is over for Amla, taking just 58 balls to do it, with six sixes and eight fours in the knock.
The 34-year-old was slightly fortunate in the second over, as he was dropped at backward point on three, but he cruised from there, hitting back-to-back sixes to bring up his century. There’s been some near-misses for Amla, hitting 96 for his IPL side last year, as well as an unbeaten 97 for the Proteas against England last year.
